What to do after the SEER screening (18 Sep 2026) — check back often

Today

Every day

  • 8–10k steps — walk after lunch or dinner
  • ~2,200 kcal · protein at every meal
  • Salt under 1 tsp · max 2 coffees, none after 2 pm
  • Bed by 11 pm → 7–8 h sleep

Next step

7-day home BP check

Morning + evening, 2 readings each, after 5 min sitting. Snap a photo of the screen — that's your record for the GP. Average 135/85 or above → GP

If I only do two things
1

Get BP and pulse checked

7 days of home readings, then the GP with the SEER report. 145/94 and 108 are the two results that need a doctor, not a diet.

2

Shrink the visceral fat

Level 18, mostly on the trunk. It drives BP, liver stress and tiredness. First target −5% (108 kg); at that point it already drops a lot.

    7-day home BP check

Morning + evening, 2 readings each, after 5 min sitting. Snap a photo of the screen — that's your record for the GP. Average 135/85 or above → GP

  2. 2.

    Book GP visit

Bring the SEER report + BP photos. Ask for: ECG · full blood count · cholesterol panel (LDL/HDL/TG) · liver + kidney tests · HbA1c · sleep apnoea check · OK to start jogging? Tell them you take finasteride/dutasteride

  3. 3.

    Tiptoe test (30 sec)

Arch appears = flexible flat foot. Stays flat = physio first

  4. 4.

    Physio gait check

Flat feet + arch/shin pain + hip/back pain. Ask about exercises and shoes

  5. 5.

    Re-screen

What the numbers mean
  • All 26.6 kg to lose is fat

InBody says muscle control 0.0 kg — your muscle is already where it should be. Keep it while the fat comes off.

  • It's not an absorption problem

Water, protein and minerals read 'over' because you carry 74 kg of lean mass. The ranges are set for an 83 kg man.

  • Your metabolism isn't broken

InBody works out BMR from lean mass: 370 + 21.6 × 74.1 = 1,970. 'Below range' is the formula, not a slow engine.

  • The fat sits on your trunk

Trunk fat 21 kg (459% of normal) vs legs 280%. Belly fat is the visceral fat — the one that drives BP and liver stress.

  • Red cells slightly HIGH, not low

Haemoglobin 17.3, haematocrit 51.1% — both just over range. No iron. Your hair tablet (finasteride) doesn't do this. Common causes: sleep apnoea, smoking, not drinking enough — ask the GP.

  • BP and pulse need a doctor

145/94 and 108 are the two numbers that can't wait for the January re-screen.

InBody goal

Pace 0.5–1 kg a week. Next stop: 108 kg (5.7 kg to go). Aim for ~106 kg at the January re-screen.

Every day
  • Sleep 7–8 hours

Biggest lever you control. Poor sleep pushes up BP and pulse.

  • 8–10k steps (slow jogging 超慢跑 once GP clears you)

All-day movement burns more than one hard session and fixes circulation.

  • Eat ~2,100–2,300 kcal

InBody says 2,865 keeps you where you are. ~600 under loses ~0.5 kg a week. No drop after 3 weeks → cut another 200.

  • Protein every meal (~130–150 g/day)

Protects the 42 kg of muscle while the fat comes off.

  • Salt under 1 teaspoon a day

Salt is the fastest food lever on blood pressure. Most of it hides in sauces, soups and preserved food.

  • Potassium foods: banana, papaya, leafy greens, beans

SEER's own advice, and it's right — potassium helps bring BP down.

  • Max 2 coffees/teas, none after 2 pm

Caffeine pushes up pulse and BP and hurts sleep.

  • Meditation / breathing

Brings your pulse down to ~70.

Every week
  • Gym 2–3× — keep lifting

SEER said cut gym. Don't — muscle protects your metabolic rate. Add cardio on top.

  • 150 min cardio

    Heart and visceral fat.

  • Oily fish 2× (salmon, sardine, kembung)

Heart health and blood fats. Tuesday and Friday dinner is easy to remember.

  • Sunday: plan the week's food

Buy fish, veg, bananas, eggs. Decide where you'll eat on the busy days so it isn't noodles by default.

  • Go easy on alcohol

Liver was flagged as stressed, and alcohol raises BP.

Food rules

Eat

  • ✓ Half plate veg (broccoli, kangkung, sawi, kailan, spinach)
  • ✓ Palm of protein: fish, skinless chicken, eggs, tofu, tempeh
  • ✓ Quarter plate carbs: brown rice, oats, sweet potato
  • ✓ Potassium: banana, papaya, beans, leafy greens
  • ✓ Beetroot juice/soup most days
  • ✓ Small handful of nuts
  • ✓ 2–2.5 L water

Avoid

  • ✕ Preserved food: salted fish, 咸菜, lap cheong, 咸蛋
  • ✕ Instant noodles, processed meat
  • ✕ Too much soy sauce / sambal / soup (salt → BP)
  • ✕ Fried food, McD (max 1×/week)
  • ✕ Energy drinks, 3+ coffees a day
  • ✕ Supper — eat your last meal 3 h before bed
  • ✕ Sugary drinks

KK swaps

Teh tarik / kopi susu→Kosong or siu dai
Dry / fried noodles→Soup noodles, less oil, leave the soup
Full scoop rice→Half scoop
Chap fan with curry gravy→2 veg + 1 steamed/grilled, no gravy
First meal after 16:8 = noodles→Eggs + salad, or fish + greens
Salted fish / 咸菜 on the side→Fresh chilli, lime, garlic
Feet & legs — flat feet

Flat feet · thighs touch but knees and ankles don't, so legs are straight. The rubbing is thigh size and eases as weight drops. Running puts 2–3× body weight through each step (walking 1–1.5×) — at 113 kg that's why arches, shins, hips and back complain.

Now — walk, don't run

  • Brisk walk 30–45 min most days
  • Harder cardio: incline treadmill walk or bike (no impact)

Strength 3×/week · 10 min

Hip + whole-leg work beats foot-only exercises for flat feet. The studies are small — treat this as a good start and let the physio adjust it.

  • 5 moves, with pictures in the next card

Later — walk-run

Start only when the GP has OK'd it (pulse 108, high BP). Rule of thumb, not a study: a 45-min walk should leave no pain the next day first.

  • Jog 1 min / walk 2 min × 8
  • Treadmill or grass, build slowly

Gear

  • Compression / cycling shorts or anti-chafe balm for inner thighs
  • Comfortable, supportive shoes. Insoles only if they ease pain — they don't fix flat feet or prevent injury

Tiptoe test: stand on tiptoe, look at your arch from the side. Arch appears = flexible (common, exercises help). Stays flat = rigid → see physio/podiatrist before building up.

Strength moves — 3×/week

Glute bridge

3 × 10–12 · hold 2 sec at top

  1. Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat, hip-width
  2. Squeeze your bum and lift hips until knees, hips and shoulders line up
  3. Lower slowly. Feel it in the bum, not the lower back

Side-lying leg raise

3 × 12 each side · slow

  1. Lie on your side, bottom knee bent for balance
  2. Top leg straight, toes pointing forward — not up to the ceiling
  3. Lift to about 45°, lower over 3 seconds. Don't roll backwards

Calf raise

3 × 12 · 2 sec up, 3 sec down

  1. Stand holding a wall or rail
  2. Rise onto the balls of your feet, weight over the big-toe side so ankles don't roll out
  3. Both legs first. Single leg when 3 × 12 feels easy

Arch lift (short foot)

10 × 5-sec hold each foot

  1. Start seated, foot flat on the floor
  2. Slide the ball of your foot toward your heel so the arch lifts
  3. Toes stay long and relaxed — don't curl them. Progress to standing

Side plank

3 × 15–30 sec each side

  1. On your forearm, elbow under your shoulder
  2. Knees bent to start (easier on the back), straight legs later
  3. Lift hips so you're a straight line. Breathe — don't hold your breath
  • • Mild ache up to 3 out of 10 is fine. Sharp pain, or worse the next morning — stop that move and ask the physio
  • • Slow beats fast. Control the lowering part
  • • Rest 30–60 sec between sets. Whole routine is about 10 minutes
What 30 minutes burns — at your weight
  • Walking227
  • Badminton257
  • Cycling341
  • Jogging398
  • Swimming398

kcal, from your InBody printout. A 45-min brisk walk ≈ 340 kcal. Food matters more: one teh tarik + roti canai ≈ 500.

What to buy (and not)
  • BeetrootYes — can lower BP a little
  • Fresh greensYes — powder only as backup
  • Fish oilOnly if <2 fish meals/week
  • Apple cider vinegarOK as you take it — dilute it, use a straw. No proven BP effect
  • Finasteride / dutasterideCarry on. Doesn't affect BP, pulse or red cells. It halves PSA (prostate test) — always tell the doctor
  • ChlorophyllOptional — weak evidence
  • Iron pillsNo — iron is normal, red cells already high
  • SEER H2 packs, Energizer, Ultra ElectronSkip — no evidence
  • Cold/flu pills with pseudoephedrineAvoid — raise BP and pulse. Ask the pharmacist for another one
See a doctor if you notice
  • • BP 180/110 or higher, or chest pain, severe headache or sudden vision loss — same-day clinic / A&E
  • • Numbness or weakness on one side of the body, face drooping, slurred speech — call 999
  • • Blurry vision for a few seconds
  • • Fingers suddenly stiff
  • • Weaker urine stream
  • • Back pain + numbness in both legs, around the groin/bottom, or bladder/bowel changes — go to A&E

Small print — what to trust

Solid: InBody numbers, blood pressure, pulse, glucose, cholesterol, uric acid, haemoglobin/haematocrit, the urine test. Still single readings on one day — the GP confirms.

Not proven:the live and dry cell microscope tests (viscosity, plaque, liver/kidney stress, free radicals, inflammation). The colon, prostate, spine and vitamin C claims from the meeting are not in the written report. The "low iron" said in the meeting is contradicted by the report (iron deficiency: absent).

Declined:SEER's RM5,000 package (hydrogen chlorophyll drink + 32 inhalation / Ultra Electron sessions) — everything useful in it comes from diet, exercise and sleep.
